The first active work carried out by the Red Cross District Committee in the district in collaboration with government agencies in the disaster area was in the Kavalappara landslide disaster area in Nilambur taluk of the district and in various taluks of the district. The Red Cross received compliments from various department heads under the government.
Similarly, it has done remarkable work in all the taluk since the beginning regarding Covid 19.The Red Cross District Committee received special recognition from the district administration in recognition of the excellent work done by the Disaster Response Force (DDRT) and Red Cross members, who are part of the Red Cross, to prevent the said epidemic and minimize its spread.
The Wayanad district administration and various audio-visual media have highlighted the day-to-day service work of the Red Cross volunteer wings DDRT and FMR members in the Mundakai-Churalmala landslide disaster area in Wayanad district, the biggest natural disaster in Kerala that shocked the world's conscience recently.
In the modern era, first aid is of great importance. A project called Keddidam Hrudaya Thalam, which provides first aid awareness and training to all 25,000 JRC cadets, the student wing of the Red Cross, is being implemented.
Although blood donation camps are held every year, as part of the 2021 Sanjana International Blood and Plasma Donation Camp, it was possible to donate the most blood in a single-day blood donation camp, winning the International Lifesaver Award and becoming part of the World Book of Records.
A plan has been formulated to help those who are in need in the natural disasters that frequently occur in our country and to mitigate the disaster situations and to train scientifically trained volunteers. It is intended to train at least 500 volunteers in the district every year.
On this occasion, we remember those who have led the Red Cross activities in the district in the past and are no longer with us, and the feeling that their minds are with us motivates us to do more activities.

Junior Red Cross (JRC) is a students wing of the Indian Red Cross Society, dedicated to fostering humanitarian values among school students. Through educational activities and community service, JRC promotes health, service, and friendship.
